Weight Certification Makeup Test

posted Oct 30, 2013, 2:31 PM by Nicholas Brenner   [ updated Oct 30, 2013, 2:32 PM ]

The makeup weight certification test will be held on Thursday November 7th, immediately following school at 2:10pm.  The test administrator has agreed to do it here at LHS because we only have a few that still need to take it.  However, this will be our last chance to be tested before our first competition.  It is mandatory so if you have not completed this test, you will not be able to compete.  Please see Coach Brenner for details or if you have questions.  If you have already been tested, please disregard the Remind101 text reminders for this test.

Tips for the Hydration Test and Weight Certification

posted Oct 17, 2013, 9:09 AM by Nicholas Brenner   [ updated Oct 17, 2013, 9:09 AM ]

  1. Start now!!! Most people are not fully hydrated on a day to day basis and would not pass this test.  You have to be drinking plenty of fluids for a day or two leading up to the test.
  2. Stay away from food that are high in sodium (salt) and fat leading up to the test because they will cause you to retain water and your urine test will determine that you are not hydrated.
  3. Drink WATER ONLY!!!  Gatorade, Powerade, Soda and energy drinks will make you retain water and make it hard to pass the test.
  4. Urinate at least one time before coming to the test.  Your first trip to the bathroom each day is usually the most highly concentrated (yellow) one.
  5. Eat a very light breakfast that morning. If you can wait to eat your first big meal until after the test, that would be best.  The more food you have in your stomach the higher the chance that your body fat percentage will be off.  We scheduled the test later in the morning so the guys playing football the night before would have a little extra time to rehydrate.
  6. Wear the lightest weight shorts and t-shirt you can find.  It could be the difference between being eligible for a weight class that is better suited for you.
  7. BE THERE EARLY!!!  I will be there at 10:00am to get people started.  You only need to fill out one small form and then get in line.

Weight Certification is Saturday 10/19

posted Oct 16, 2013, 12:11 PM by Nicholas Brenner

Weight Certification will take place on Saturday 10/19 at Lambert High School at 10:30am.  This is mandated by the GHSA and must be completed by every wrestler before that are allowed to compete this season (you can practice without this but will not be able to compete).  The process is pretty simple and the test will not take long.  It goes like this:
  1. Drink plenty of water and water only (avoid soda, gatorade and salty foods) throughout the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.
  2. Show up at Lambert High School (entrance near the tennis courts) 15 minutes early at 10:15am with $10 in hand
  3. Wrestlers should wear light weight t-shirt and shorts (if cold weather, bring them with you)
  4. Fill out the test form (this is why you need to be there early) before you get in line to be tested.
  5. Don't worry, no multiple choice on this test.  They are just measuring Hydration, Body Fat, Height and Weight to determine what weight classes you are allowed to wrestle in.
  6. Everyone should be done in 20-30 minutes.
